TelMed has implemented multiple technological innovations in its value chain.

  1. Modular structure: Telmed has developed a set of well-connected application modules that make process of implementation and adjustment less demanding compared to the existing solutions.
  2. Integration: TelMed platform provides seamless data flow. Life cycle of every study can be fully automated from the moment of the image acquisition, to the submission of the report. We have developed the study classification system that in combination with custom made algorithms, automatically distributes the studies to the most appropriate radiologists for that case.
  3. Integrated interface for radiologists. Radiologists are able to manage, view, write and submit reports from a single user interface. This makes their workflow more efficient and frees them from spreading their focus from the study.
  4. LLM supported auto-translation and AI supported image examination: Our platform provides auto translation feature supported by LLM, which is essential for working with international clients and radiologists, also removing another unnecessary step in radiologist’s workflow. AI support for image examination can help radiologists to focus on overlooked areas and raise the quality and precision of examination.-1. Technology Achievability Risk: Building and maintaining advanced platforms like a cloud PACS, an online DICOM viewer, and secure cloud storage systems is complex and resource-intensive. Achieving seamless, low-latency performance for global users might be challenging. TelMed made sure that our solutions are easily implemented in a wide range of environments by building a flexible, modular platform which can be installed and adjusted to the needs of each client.
  5. Technology Reliability Risk: Reliability is critical to the TelMed workflow. Potential risks are related to: data loss, data corruption, loss of connection. These potential issues are covered by multiple fallback processes, continuous testing and compliance to the international healthcare IT standards like GDPR.

Our technology is built under the concept od continuous development and delivery, which is most appropriate considering the dynamic nature of the supporting technologies and the market. TelMed platform is a software platform designed to connect medical experts (radiologists) to the clinics that require their services. It is a set of cloud-based web services, empowered by various software components that run in local/LAN environments that enable seamless data flow from the point of acquisition (pieces of medical/diagnostic equipment) to the analysis tools used by the radiologists. Roughly, the application can be divided into 3 segments: cloud-based backend, web front-end, and communication services. The technology used can be classified as:

  1. Spring boot-based services in the backend, using PostgreSQL and CouchDB for data persistence.
  2. React/JavaScript-based front end, for the medical personnel
  3. C#/Windows services for the communication between the medical equipment (TCP/IP) and the cloud (HTTPS)

The problem we are trying to solve is the global shortage of the radiologists in the world, and especially in the "emerging markets" (Africa, South America, parts of Asia). We offer the services of top-educated, European doctors to the clinics in the areas of the world where such experts do not exist, or exist in small numbers. The advantages of the technology are :

  • Simplicity and ease-of-use : doctor's user interface is entirely web based and mimics the popular (desktop) applications that are widely used in radiology
  • Availability : wherever there is internet access present, our platform is available
  • Offline mode : Communication service is capable of storing the data locally, in the conditions of low or non-existent internet asses.
